Neo Wave Arts Festival is an experiential arts festival taking place on the African Spirit cargo ship on December 23, 2022 docked in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Neo Wave Festival is an event that emboldens our quest to co-create the future while reconnecting with our past. This premiere festival features experiential and immersive art experiences, extended realities, soundscapes, music, drinks, and more.
Neo equates to ‘new’; a rebirth. This is a journey into a new world. One with limitless possibilities of creative innovation and pushing boundaries of narratives and culture out of Nigeria.
The Neo Wave fest is for the forward-thinkers. Come as you are but take it up a notch!
WHY A CARGO SHIP?
A cargo ship symbolizes movement across bodies of water, exporting goods from one place to another. Africa has a dark history of exportation out of its land - from natural resources to humans. This event on a cargo vessel evokes a symbolism of restoration.
By celebrating African art and entertainment on this vessel, we are making a statement of moving forward in who we are and in our culture to show that we are rising above this history and co-creating a future for us, by us. We are doing a 180 by celebrating our identity, creativity and culture on what feels like the very means that symbolizes the attempt to wash it away.
